It all started in a movie theatre? The origins of the phrase are thought to date back to a Mexican movie entitled “Pura Vida!” released in the 1950s. The main character despite his troubled life used the phrase all throughout the entire film to remain positive and optimistic and legend has it, that it just stuck!

Whether it's speculated to have started in a Mexican Film or not, "Pura Vida" took on it's own life in Costa Rica. The phrase "Pura Vida" literally means Pure Life and if you have ever had the fortune of traveling to Costa Rica, you'll learn very quickly that Pura Vida is a way of life for Ticos.
